Monchichi Monday♥

Some people have a thing for owls, or bunnies, but I think porcupines are adorable!

Advice:
♦Oh man, can I sympathize! I don't like my squeaky voice either!
♦If you haven’t heard of Sark, I highly recommend her. She writes beautiful, colorful books, about self acceptance, and cultivating happiness. She has a awesome blog too.
♦The Bloggess gives advice on manners.  (Take with a grain of salt folks)

Art/ Culture:
♦An interesting article that questions who created the famous “Vitruvian Man” drawing.

Vitruvian Man Source

♦I had no idea that the Muppets were so political!

     Bowie:
♦Rookie is on a David Bowie kick, and I couldn't be happier!
     ♦How to look like Bowie.
♦Behind the scenes of a glam-rock god. (First book listed.)
     ♦Labyrinth: Best thing ever!
(Couldn't agree more. Although, Bowie's pants in the movie are really icky!)

DIY:
♦Make your own wall art.
♦Make your own roll-up storage for makeup brushes.

Fashion:
♦What the shape of shoes can convey. [The toe shape, pointed, round , square etc.] Square toes always remind me of the bad women from The Witches.

 Noms:
♦The kind of crazy that I love! Potato chip cookies. (I really want to try these!!!!)
♦Beautiful cakes free from the nasty tasting putty that is fondant.

Mental Health/Self-Care/Recovery:
♦Hooray for Kate! She kicked "The Bad Egg" out while at yoga.
♦As with a physical wound, sometimes psychological wounds need to be opened up in order to be cleaned out and healed.
♦More about The Bloggess’s red dress project.

WTF???
♦The Clockwork Orange/ local Serial killer fashion line…?
♦I know I posted this on Facebook, but it is still very weird!!!

I hope you all h ave a fun and stress-free week!

: )

The search for makeup

I have been on the look out for a new makeup company. I have been using a mix of Cover Girl and Mary Kay. I have some issues with both companies…and have been wanting to switch for quite a while.

The trouble is that I have sensitive skin. Changing makeup is a slow grueling process. I can only try one product at a time. Testing each one for a week or more.

Beyond the skin issue I have other requirements. I look for animal testing, ease of purchase, and value for cost.

The HUGE issue I have with Cover Girl, is animal testing. I find it disgusting and unnecessary to test on animals. I cannot support a company that harms animals.

I don't want to use Mary Kay anymore, because I don't have a great relationship with my Mary Kay agent. I like being able to pick up makeup while shopping for other things.

I have also  been experimenting with different make-up techniques. I have found a lot of great tips on Keiko Lynn's blog.

Her tutorial on cat-eye  makeup was very helpful. Based on her recommendation I purchased a cream eye liner and an egonomic liner brush. The brush works like a charm! I love it, so easy to use.

I have been trying out;

A great review of the brush Here

I like the black so much I ended up buying more colors!

I also discovered the E.L.F. 100 color eyeshadow palette.

I love it! It has a fantastic selection of colors. The best part is that its only $10.00!

Eccentric Glamour

I recently picked up a used copy of Eccentric Glamour by Simon Doonan. It was a fun and interesting read. He urges woman to reject cookie-cutter trends and botoxed boob-job look of “Porno Chic.”

This is not a bullet pointed list of must have for every wardrobe. It instead celebrates individuality and “over the top glamour.”

It is a very entertaining look at fashion full of comical descriptions. It features short interviews with some fantastically glamorous people.

He reminds us all that fashion is meant to be a fun exciting journey of self discovery. We do not need to be slaves to the next big trend.

I don’t recommend following his wacky advice about relationships….
