The FDA report states patients [Who have gotten implants] must get MRIs every two years to screen for “silent ruptures” of the silicone implants, which don’t deflate when they tear like saline implants so you don’t know when they’re leaking. That’s an extra $2,000 biannually for women who have elected to breast enhancement! Add it all up and the original $5K to $10K procedure will now cost a 25-year-old woman at least another $35K for re-implantation and $30K for the recommended number of MRIs throughout her life!

♦Barbie without makeup...not sure what I think about this. Was the aim "realness" or were they trying to make Barbie less attractive, a caricature if you will? What is your take on this?
One commenter nails it: "An opposite side of the pendulum swing? Looks a little more exaggerated than merely not having make up on if you ask me. Maybe it's a psychological tactic saying "this is how you will look if you don't wear your make up!" which then scares young girls into always wearing it?"

Mental Health/Self-Care:
♦A blog about "Perfect Weight" what does that mean?

"Sometimes I feel like there's an invisible scale that follows me around. It sits next to me when I eat, staring pointedly at the pat of butter on my bread roll. It lurks in the corner while I'm running on my treadmill. I open the door to my pantry and the invisible scale glares at me from a shelf, dictating what I should and should not eat. And worst of all, it regularly reminds me of my lowest weight, the number I was when I was sick and starving.

That damm scale.
My damm weight

Do you feel that bald is beautiful?

I do.

I just wanted to share a story with all of you. I read a guest post over at Eat The Damn Cake that really moved me. A young woman writes about her life being bald.

At 14 she began to lose her hair. I can’t begin to imagine the taunting and pain of being bald in junior high. She is a strong woman.

Straight Hair For The Price of Chemical Burns...Awesome!

I have been hearing terrible things about the Brazilian Blowout. (It is a chemical treatment to straighten hair.) There have been reports of burns and hair loss.

It is really scary what  chemicals can be in beauty products. I want women and men, to be more aware of what they put on and in their bodies.

Siobhan O Connor tells of her experience with the Brazilian Blowout:

"Siobhan O’Connor’s journey into natural beauty began with formaldehyde. Whenever she and her best friend from back home in Montreal, Alexandra Spunt, would travel cross-country to see one other, they’d do “girly things”—including a foray into Brazilian blowouts. Their hair looked great for a month, but when O’Connor’s strands started breaking and Spunt’s hair turned into a “French-fried mangled mess,” they did some investigating and learned that they’d gotten a formaldehyde treatment. (Brazilian blowouts are now officially on the OSHA hazard alert list.) "
