Trip to the farm

Rasputin and I made another visit to mum's farm. We really have fun hanging out with her and her cows. I am lucky to have such a cool mother-in-law!

Baby cows!
They adore Lynn.

They love it when she scratches under their chins.

Cats And Laptops...Are Not Compatable...

This is my life...everyday....

A giant thanks to Cat Vs. Human!

Sorry for the late post!

We are having our roof repaired, and my animals are not happy about it. They are either hiding…or growling and barking.

I am trying to keep them calm…*sigh*.

Let hope this goes quickly.

♦I really want to do this in my kitchen.
♦This table idea is super cool.

Feminism:
♦Female boxers made to wear skirts…to seem more “feminine?”
♦Childless by choice, and interview.(I understand where she is coming from. I don’t want children and I get negative comments and guilt trips form total strangers!)♦Accentuating…or covering? A look at Beauty Vs. Self-love.

♦Dark Chocolate cookies.
♦Oooooh! Carrot cake pancakes...!!! Rasputin will love these.

♦A new way to decorate cookies.

Mental Health/Recovery:
♦Another reason to leave Pinterest: “Thinspo”

Not familiar with “Thinspo” (Good for you!) Thinspo consists of thin-inspirational photos. Often photoshopped to appear smaller, bonier, and more emaciated.

I ask you…please don’t look at thinspo photos. You are fantastic, smart, funny and lovely just as you are!

Keep being awesome!!!!

WTF?
♦The new speed-dating thing… “Eye-gazing Parties” Icky….glad I am not dating anymore!♦“What ethnicity are you…?” A woman voices her frustration at being asked this overly-personal question.
♦Florida repeals a law banning the dyeing of animals. Sick! What were they thinking???
♦This always kills me a bit inside to see this happen. (Bad wedding cakes…)

New Look!

Enjoy my roses from last year.

As you may have noticed…I redesigned my blog.

I have wanted to add subscription options for quite awhile. The only way to make that possible was to use a different template.

This new template will also allow folks to see other posts, that I don’t mention on my Facebook page.

If you have any feedback for the new layout please let me know. Hope to hear from you!

Scars Are Normal

I have just recently begun watching Once Upon A Time.

I completely spazzed out when I noticed that one of the actresses (Lana Parrilla) has a lip scar!!!!

I guess I need to explain.

I have had a scar on my lip for most of my life.

When I was a little squirt…I was a bit too curious and ended up pulling my grandmothers clock down on myself.

It broke my nose and split my lip. So now I have a funky witches’ nose, and a lip scar.

I put on some lipstick to make the scar stand out more. I usually don’t like to wear any, not because of the scar…but because its sticky, and smears all over.

They used to bother me, for awhile I considered getting my nose done. Overtime I learned to accept them both. I wouldn’t be me without them!

I am grateful to see more actors and actresses with scars.

Some others include: Tommy Flanagan, Tina Fey, Harrison Ford, Mary J. Blige, and of course Joaquin Phoenix.

A Visit to Mum’s Farm

Rasputin and I went to visit his Mum (Lynn*) on her farm. She and her husband (Todd*) are starting up a small dairy farm.

Most of their cows are Jerseys, and one Holstein.

Their eyes are so beautiful!

Oh, #92! You are such a little fashion plate!

They cows adore Lynn! She calls out “Hi babies!” and they come running toward her. They nuzzle her hand…waiting for scritches.
(I used this tactic to get these photos!)

Me with the calves. They all have names...but I forget who is who....

Rasputin scratching one of the babies.

The Holstein is named Legs. (I can’t confuse her with another calf. ☺)

Zoey and one of the calves chilling.

Cows are very curious animals.◘

Most have graduated to grains, but the two littlest ones are still on milk replacer. These two cleaned each others faces after breakfast.

Rasputin took a video, but he hasn’t uploaded it yet. I will add it later.
Lynn is training one of the calves for the upcoming fair. She takes her out and runs her around the yard to tire her out a bit. Then they practice walking together.

I took several shots of them, but I really loved the motion of this one.
Hope you enjoy the photos!

* I often change people's names.

Good Morning...

Marigold Monday

"Kids love to jump on the bed"

Activism:
♦Wow. America’s Next Top Model is in hot water for making a Native American contestant dress in a bad-stereo-type of Pocahontas. What were they thinking?

Although…the contestant seemed to find a way to make it positive in spite of all of the implied racism.

"Native Americans haven't had anybody in the celebrity industry," she said. "There have been a few native actors – Adam Beach, Irene Bedard – but there's never been a native so high up in the fashion industry who's looked at on a celebrity level. People don't want to listen to you unless you come from a place of power. There are a lot of improvements across Indian country that can be made. I want to start helping out and being a factor."
♦My how toys have changed over the years!

Beauty:
♦I am still on the fence about hair chalking....what are your thoughts?

Cuteness:
♦Cats...with...hearts...on...their...fur...!

DIY:
♦More paper flower diys! Aunt Peaches shows how to make hyacinths. Ingenious!
♦Cool patchwork pillows. (Use up some scraps.)
♦Make a flower pin.
♦20 Free printables for spring/Easter, courtesy of Mod Podge Rocks.
♦Feathers...made...of...duct-tape.
♦Felt insoles...sounds so comfy.

Noms:
♦A very interesting idea for making eggs.
♦Drool: easy raspberry meringue cookies. (Edit: egads! I forgot to add the link! Here it is!!!!)
♦Rasputin would love these...Carrot Cake Cookies

Stay positive:
♦Dealing with failure.

Mental Health/Self-Care/Recovery:
♦A great piece about recovery, body image, and society’s body ideal.

“…constantly asking myself whether my behavior is in line with my values or with my disease. And luckily the past four or five years the values have won out over the obsession.”
♦A very candid look into one woman’s life with depression, borderline personality disorder and Aspergers.
♦Good therapist? Bad shrink? How to tell.
♦Are you a chronic apologizer? (I know that I am.)

The Animal Trade is (still) Alive and Well

A group goes under-cover in a exotic animal market.

WARNING: Don’t watch this is you are faint of heart. It is a very sad video.

Exotic animals do not make good pets. They need to live in their native habitats.
They are (most often) acquired illegally, and kept in inhuman captivity.

So Long Pinterest.... *Update*

I decided to delete my Pinterest account.

After reading this, I decided I didn’t want to take the risk. I don’t want to be sued for copyright infringement.

To sum things up:

You bear the brunt of copyright infringement…not the site.

Yikes!

I am sad to have deleted it. I had a lot of fun on the site, and met some cool people.
**********************************
*Update*

Now that the dust has settled from me deleting my Pinterest account…I have realized a few things.

1. I spent WAY to much time on that site.

2. The “thinspo” on there was really getting to me.

3. I still really miss the folks I knew through the site! Courtney D. Had some of the best comments. : )

So if any folks from Pinterest do find my blog, feel free to drop me a line. I would love to hear from you!

Mignon Monday

Mignon (French) Adj.
Definition: small and pretty; dainty

Nubbies play in snow. So cute. : )

Crafts:

♦Chalkboard paint of any color.
♦DIY stationary.
♦Street signs, but would be cool for tons of different things.
♦Re-make thriftstore finds.
♦Easy necklace remake.

♦How to style your hair, in Victory Rolls.

Feminism:
♦This makes me so sad, girls on YouTube ask commenters if they are pretty.
♦Thoughts on The Girl Hate Cycle.
♦I guess “provocative” is in the eye of the beholder. Do you think a long sleeved sweater over a dress with tights is too provocative for school? Read all about it.
♦Wow, Disney...how dissappointing.

Lols:
♦Mutant cookie sheep!
♦Closets as timecapsules. Very amusing, and reminds me of myself!
